THE ROCKS

The novel starts in 2005 and I thought it looked like the two principal characters, Lulu and Gerald, were in their eighties, and wondered which way the book was going to develop.

This is my first experience of reading a story going backwards – always to some significant date – and developing the story from that point. To start with I was not sure I’d like it, but it soon gripped me and I found myself thinking from time to time, “Ah, so that’s what happened!”

A very well thought-out book and an interesting read.
