GARLIC, ONIONS, SHALLOTS

I decided last autumn to hedge my bets when it came to planting garlic and onion sets.

One lot were planted on the allotment and just in case everything died during a severe winter (the one we didn’t have, keeping my fingers firmly crossed – after all, anything can happen in March!) I put another lot of garlic and shallots in modules and kept them in  my little plastic greenhouse where I store pots and anything else. They survived the winter very well and today I decided to plant them out on the allotment to join the others. I couldn’t tell the difference – some of the garlic looks bigger after overwintering on the allotment but all in all  – much of a muchness.

Let us just hope things will grow well from now on.

One thing is certain – we shall not have a shortage of garlic, onions or shallots!
